"17 years ago. Jesus."
"I remember cranking this music out over the course of a few days. I can remember just living and breathing music. Every fuckin day. It was so easy, before I realized you could never make a living doing this kinda shit. Through the years, we all grew a little more self-conscious, it was embarrassing to keep playing those empty rooms.
I started playing horns and vibes in Still Flyin' around this time. They were so much more successful than RPC, I couldn't help but be influenced by it. Why not be more commercial? Why not be more cool? More hip? Well the answer is I didn't know how to be that. Oh well. This is a nice record of the time before I gave a shit. Accepting music as it came to me. Making music with my friends and then making some more. Driving around in a van and having fun. I miss it and I miss those dudes. Half of us were retired elementary school orchestra members, the other half just weirdos looking for something to do. We fucking loved playing music."-Gabe Saucedo |
